QSM Belgium

The Quality Standard Mark (QSM), with an indication of British origin, will now be used on lamb packs in Belgium following requests from processors and retailers in the country.
QSM guarantees the provenance of lamb for consumers, ensuring high standards of farm assurance and processing and the move in Belgium mirrors what has happened in France.
The QSM requirements are designed to minimise the impact of animal age, which influences eating quality and provides customers with an improved and more consistent product.
It means customers can be more confident of the tenderness and succulence of meat when its specifications adhere to QSM – vital to ensuring customer satisfaction. The entire supply chain – farm, abattoir, wholesaler, butcher and caterer – needs to be signed up to the scheme to utilise it.
Suppliers of beef and lamb who are members of the AHDB Beef & Lamb Quality Standard scheme will be able to meet requirements over and above the current legal standards, guaranteeing their customers a product of integrity and of a consistently high eating standard.
