Red Tractor Beef and Lamb

The Red Tractor scheme is managed and operated by Assured Food Standards.

AHDB Beef & Lamb endorses the Red Tractor Standard for the production of lamb and beef through to the point of retail. Packs that carry the Red Tractor Beef and Lamb logo are your guarantees for:

Assurance – Individual assurance schemes not only cover beef and lamb farms and feed but also livestock transportation, the slaughtering process and the production methods.

Welfare – In order to carry the coveted Red Tractor beef and lamb mark, farmers must observe carefully regulated quality standards relating to cattle and sheep husbandry and welfare at all stages. These range from the design of cattle and sheep accommodation to staff training, health monitoring, feed, cattle and sheep transportation and overall animal management. All of these are independently assessed to ensure a healthy environment for cattle and sheep.

Traceability – Knowing exactly where your food comes from is key to the Red Tractor scheme. It is ensured that food packing companies provide detailed records at every stage of production and allow independent inspectors access to their premises for regular checks. As a result, all Red Tractor Beef and Lamb products can be traced back to farms.

Peace of Mind – Red Tractor beef and lamb are produced to high standards of assurance all the time. Each element of the chain – feed, farm, transport, abattoir is inspected by independent auditors at regular intervals.

Country of Origin – The Red Tractor Beef and Lamb logo provides an independently verified guarantee of origin. When you see the Union flag in the logo, you can be sure the beef and lamb have been reared on UK farms – not just processed in the UK.
